The Pentagon, on May 29, 2020, put active-duty MP units from Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Colorado; Fort Drum, New York; Fort Carson, Colorado; and Fort Riley, Kansas on alert to deploy on short notice to reinforce police dealing with civil unrest in the wake of the death on George Floyd, a unarmed black man who died in police custody May 25.  

美國國防部於2020年5月29日,要求北卡羅萊納州布拉格堡、紐約州德拉姆堡、科羅拉多州卡森保、堪薩斯州萊利堡等單位現役憲兵部隊,隨時做好部屬戒備,依令臨機增援警力,應處弗洛依德死後所引發的騷亂;這名手無寸鐵的非裔男子,於5月25日遭警方拘捕致死。

Demonstrators protesting police brutality have clashed with law enforcement in major cities which led to deployment of thousands of National Guard troops over last weekend.

抗議警察暴行的示威者,在各大城市與執法人員發生衝突,使致上周末數千名國民兵展開部署行動。

The boldness of protestors prompted Republican Sen. Tom Cotton to call for the deployment of active-duty combat units to do “whatever it takes to restore order.”   

抗議者不顧一切的舉動,促使共和黨參議員柯頓呼籲部署現役戰鬥部隊,務盡一切手段,以恢復秩序。
